Dear Grade 3 Families,
As we prepare for the upcoming EQAO assessment this spring, we would like to take the opportunity to share some important information about this process and how we can work together to support your child’s success.
The EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) assessments are an essential part of our education system. They provide a valuable opportunity for students in grades 3 and 6 to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the primary and junior divisions. The assessments focus on literacy and mathematics and are designed to assess students’ understanding in these key areas.
Our educators have been working diligently throughout the year to ensure that students are well-prepared and confident for the EQAO assessment. As part of our preparation, we have created a home connection opportunity for students to gain additional practice with EQAO-style questions. This also allows families to better understand the types of questions that will appear on the assessment. Each week, we will be sending home one math question and one literacy question. If students and families choose to participate, the completed questions should be returned to the classroom teacher, and the student’s name will be entered into a weekly prize draw!
Our ultimate goal is to not only continue practicing and reinforcing important knowledge and skills but also to help build excitement and confidence as students approach the EQAO assessment. We want each child to feel empowered as they demonstrate their learning and growth within the primary division. We believe that the partnership between school and home is crucial for students to perform at their best, and we thank you in advance for your support.
