Lakers Afloat: The Challenge of Cardboard Boat Making

posted in: Homepage News | 0

What do you get when you cross HUGE pieces of cardboard, duct tape, adhesive, and a bunch of creative, Grade 8 Lakers? The answer: an amazing display of talent, determination, and cooperation. Our Grade 8 students headed to the Forbert Pool last week to compete in their annual Cardboard Boat races and the chance to qualify for the TLDSB competition. After designing prototypes, discussing strategies, and collaborating with their group members on elements of design, they build and raced. Congratulations to all who competed, showing courage and team spirit. Our winners: Mac Hudson, Nate Turner, Alex Stephan, and Anderson Smith- Merkley will be heading to Bracebridge to compete at the TLDSB race on February 15th!
